INFLATABLE PLAY EQUIPMENT – Safe Usage & Conditions of Hire

As the hirer, at ALL times you must act responsibly to operate the Bouncy Castle SAFELY and so avoid injury to anyone using the Bouncy Castle and to avoid damage to the Bouncy Castle. You must ensure the following safety instructions are followed at all times.

1.    YOU MUST ensure a responsible adult supervises the inflatable at all times.
2.    NO smoking or naked flames, barbecues etc to be used near the inflatable.
3.    This inflatable has an age limit of 12 years, unless otherwise specified ie adult castle. No one over this age is permitted to use the unit.
4.    In the event of heavy rain, it is strongly recommended that the inflatable be switched off. Any wetness including bubbling at seams can be dried with a towel before resuming use. A small picnic table placed over the blower can prevent water being sucked into the blower and then into the inflatable.
5.    If the inflatable is not to be used for any period of time, switch off the blower either at the socket, or disconnect the plug. This will help save your energy costs. Once re-started, checks must be made to ensure the equipment is fully inflated, the anchor points are secure and the safety mats are in position before play resumes.
6.    The location of the inflatable must be away from any potential risks to children bouncing off it and away from any potential risks to the Bouncy Castle e.g. fencing, railings, thorny bushes etc. We reserve the right to cancel without penalty, any hire which does not meet these requirements.
7.    The inflatable must be sited on a level surface, which is clear of sharp objects, debris or animal droppings. We reserve the right to cancel without penalty, any hire which does not meet these requirements.
8.    The inflatable will be secured using the attached ties and metal pegs/sand bags. DO NOT attempt to move the inflatable or remove these anchor points once it is sited.
9.    Safety mats provided MUST be left in front of the inflatable in a sensible position to help prevent injuries.
10. DO NOT allow children with medical conditions which may put them at risk of injury e.g. neck or back problems, brittle bone disease or temporary injuries to use this inflatable.
11. You MUST have first aid facilities available on site.
12. ALL Shoes, badges, jewellery (i.e. large earrings, necklaces etc.)  MUST be removed before entering the Bouncy Castle. We also recommend that spectacles are removed.
13. To avoid any risk of choking, NO food or drinks to be consumed on the inflatable.
14. No party-poppers, coloured streamers or “silly string” to be applied or used by the inflatable. ANY repair or excessive cleaning caused by these products will be charged to the hirer.
15. Climbing, hanging, sitting on the walls, roof or perimeter of the inflatable, summersaults, back flips, running down a slide and sliding head first is dangerous and MUST be stopped immediately.
16. DO NOT allow children to play on the Bouncy Castle step. The step is to be used to assist children on and off the Bouncy Castle only.
17. DO NOT allow toys to be taken onto the Bouncy Castle as they may cause injury if fallen on and could puncture the Bouncy Castle.
18. Should the inflatable begin to deflate, evacuate children from the unit immediately. Check the electricity supply and RCD breaker (Residual Circuit Device). Should the blower not restart contact us immediately.
19. I understand that should there be any damage, loss or excessive cleaning needed to the inflatable equipment, I will be responsible for any costs involved to repair, replace or clean the equipment hired.
20. ASSUMED RISK. This Bouncy Castle has been previously checked to ensure safe operation. However, due to the uncontrollable actions of the participants, uncontrollable motions that may be directed towards opponents or contact involved in this event, injury may occur during participation. In consideration for allowing participation of individuals, contestants must agree to hold harmless fun and release Bumpabout from ALL liability for injuries or damage suffered by participants. It is the sole responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the conditions of hire and safe usage directions are adhered to. As such we strongly recommend that the hirer may wish to arrange suitable insurance themselves.
